The new overflow car park got its first real test on Sunday 9th March 2014, and it is every bit as dysfunctional as objectors feared it would be. The new car park was full by 1pm, and the cars were parked everywhere in surrounding streets, as in the past. It has done nothing to help with either parking or traffic flow, as we predicted it would not. Reservoir Road was solid with traffic between 1pm and 4pm that afternoon, with queues back to the Majestic Wine.
Of even greater concern was the dangerous junction where the two car parks join the road. This featured prominently in objections to the planning, and it is difficult to believe that planning professionals actually signed it off. Did nobody look at the plans? or the objections? or was it just rubber-stamped through political expediency? traffic chaos major safety issues gridlocked road
